Teacher says to child Go Kill Yourself

A few months back, I wrote a post about the importance of background screening. After reading about alleged teacher cruelty against an innocent 11 year old student in Louisiana, I felt compelled to discuss the implications for failure to screen educators again.

In summary, it seems that a teacher coerced other students to bully the targeted student by threatening to fail them if they refused to start a fight with the victim. The teacher even told the victim to “go and kill yourself” (see first paragraph).

“Students should not have to attend school and be bullied especially by teachers that are there for their education, guidance and safety,” says St. Landry Parish Sheriff Bobby J. Guildroz. (see last paragraph, lines #1-2).

This is a reminder to all school security, resource and other law enforcement officers to be just as vigilant in the protection of students from predatory adults and teachers as with the prevention of student to student altercations, assaults, and threats (see Fraud in Education: Beyond the Wrong Answer, page 70).
